HISTORY

The Beta Chapter of Kappa Zeta Phi Sorority at the University of California, Irvine, was colonized by five Founding Members on November 1, 1989. Ten Charter Members joined these five Founding Members and through their friendship, leadership, and vision, the formation of a new Asian-American Sorority was established at the UC Irvine campus. By working closely with the CSULA Kappa Zeta Phi, Alpha Chapter and through their understanding, support, and dedication, we were able to build strong bonds of friendship and sisterhood. Thus, the Kappa Zeta Phi, Beta Chapter Charter was bestowed upon the UC Irvine Charter Class on January 13, 1990.

ABOUT

Kappa Zeta Phi membership is open to all female students here at UC Irvine who are willing to learn and grow with us. We are centered around the qualities of education, leadership, responsibility, and sisterhood among our members. Throughout the year, our sorority participates in functions which include charitable, fundraising, and social activities in conjunction with UC Irvine and the outstanding community.

As our sorority increases in number we find ourselves facing new challenges. By working together as a sorority and through sisterhood, we will overcome all obstacles and strive forward to forever continue our pursuit of excellence.

PURPOSES

Education
Our members initiate in projects of cultural and intellectual values, and balance academic and professional excellence while maintaining active social lives. Several of our members earn Dean's Honor List each quarter. Our sisters balance 20+ unit coursework, internships, and volunteer work in a supportive group of girls that celebrates ambition and success. We continually grow closer in our dedication towards academic endeavors.

Leadership
Sisters of Kappa Zeta Phi are successful, well-rounded, and grow as strong leaders as a result of their time in the sorority. Members learn time management, networking, and project planning skills through mentorship and collaborative programs. Our purpose is to support college-wide student programs whenever this sorority can offer distinctive service.

Responsibility
Kappa Zeta Phi aims to develop the individual in areas of wholesome attitudes and ideals. We aim to embody social and personal responsibility as role models on campus and in our community.

Sisterhood
Our sorority provides an opportunity for everlasting friendships and sisterhood. Members become part of an extensive alumni network which provides unwavering support for personal and professional endeavors. Through sisterhood, we learn the meaning of true friendship and create memories that last a lifetime.
